Sun Hydraulics is a leading American-based designer and manufacturer of high-performance screw-in hydraulic cartridge valves, valve bodies and valve accessories that control force, speed and motion as integral components in fluid power systems.
In 2017 Sun Hydraulics acquired High Country Tek (HCT), an American-based manufacturer of electronic controller products – these controllers are also available in southern Africa through Axiom Hydraulics.
Axiom Hydraulics is able to customise the Sun Hydraulics’ range of screw-in cartridge valves to suit your unique application requirements – all modifications are done according to OEM specification.

Pressure Relief Valves
Protect your system with Sun Hydraulics’ extensive range of pressure relief cartridge valves. Flow capacities ranging from 1 l / min. up to 1 100 l/ min. and pressures ranges from 1 bar up to 420 bar.
Sequence Valves
Sequencing a system accurately and efficiently is what Sun Hydraulics’ sequence valve range offers. Flow capacities ranging from 30 l / min. up to 480 l / min. and pressures ranges from 3.5 bar up to 420 bar.
Pressure Reducing / Relieving Valves
When pressure sensitive systems require accurately fine adjustment, with minimal pressure differentials Sun Hydraulics’ pressure reducing / relieving range couldn’t be more comprehensive. Fine tuning ranges from 1.7 bar to 315 bar with flow capacities up to 320 l / min.
Counterbalance Valves
Sun Hydraulics is a world leader when it comes to counterbalance valves. With such a variety of options to choose from, designers can optimise both efficiency and safety. Pilot ratios range from as low as 1.5:1 up to 10:1. Maximum pressure capabilities up to 420 bar with flow capacities starting from 15 l / min. up to 480 l / min.
Load Reactive / Load Holding Valves
Continuously varying loads force designers to choose the safest but usually most inefficient option when it comes to load holding, but with Sun Hydraulics’ revolutionary load reactive valves – Load Match – systems can run at optimum efficiency, while protecting your machinery and personnel.
Pilot-to-Open Check Valves
Superior pilot-to-open check valves are defined by their leakage. With Sun Hydraulics’ high-calibre design, leakage is at an absolute minimum yet still maintaining a variety of panoptic cracking pressures ranging from 0.3 bar up to 7 bar. Flow capacities range from 60 l / min. up to 480 l / min.
Check Valves
You have complete flexibility when it comes to Sun Hydraulics’ check valve cartridge applications. Choose either nose-to-side or side-to-nose for ease of compact manifold design, as well as a comprehensive range of cracking pressures starting from 0.3 bar up to 7 bar. Leakages are also at an absolute minimum.
Flow Control Valves
An important fundamental to fluid mechanics is flow control, whereby flow regulation directly determines the working speed of a select function. Sun Hydraulics’ flow control range offers a multitude of control options to suit your requirements. Flow capacities range from 1 l / min. up to 480 l / min.
Flow Divider / Combiner Valves
With a rated error accuracy as low as +-2.5%, Sun Hydraulics’ flow divider valves are the obvious choice when flow division is required in a system. High-capacity options allow for a range of 60 l / min. to 300 l / min.
Logic Elements
Sun Hydraulics screw-in logic element cartridge valves can boast superior efficiency when compared to the slip-in cartridge style used by most competitors. Smooth and accurate modulation gives your design elegant yet precise functionality. High flow capacities can reach up to 760 l / min.
Directional Valves
Fast response, high accuracy and a multitude of control variations characterise Sun Hydraulics directional control valve cartridges. From 1 l / min. up to 480 l / min. flow capabilities, and variable pressure ranges from 1.7 bar to 350 bar.
Solenoid Operated Valves
Electro-hydraulic systems have become favoured in most modern hydraulic systems. Sun Hydraulics offers a complete range of various valve configurations as well as numerous spool overlap phases to suit your functional requirements. These medium flow capacity valves offer high efficiency throughout any selection and with flow capabilities from 1 l / min. up to 45 l / min. All valves can see a maximum of 350 bar.
Pilot Controlled Directional Valves
Adding to the versatility of the Sun Hydraulics’ cartridge valve range, we can offer low capacity pilot control valves specifically designed to be incorporated with ventable or externally piloted valves. The most pioneering aspect to this range is the flexible modulation with T8 cavity option cartridges, saving time, money with additional cavity manufacturing.
Shuttle Valves
Sun Hydraulics’ signal shuttle valves make manifold design even more flexible with an assortment of port orientations to choose from. Low-leakage rate ensures that your signalling is never compromised. High-capacity ‘Hot Oil’ shuttles are also available, reaching an impressive 480 l / min. All ranges can see a maximum pressure of 350 bar.
Standard Valve Bodies
Sun Hydraulics offers a full range of valve bodies to suit your individual cartridge requirements. You have countless variations of cavities and port sizes to select from. These bodies come in aluminium (200 bar max.) or steel (350 bar max).
Flex Series
Sun’s new FleX series pressure or directional control valves offer higher T-8A and T-162A cavity flow capacities, at lower costs.
